GOLDEN BRIDGE II — AI That Changes What Happens After the Scan

📄 BMJ | March 20, 2026

The largest RCT of its kind just showed that AI-integrated clinical decision support reduces vascular events in stroke patients — not by reading scans faster, but by improving the entire care pathway.

📊 Key findings across 77 hospitals and 21,603 patients:

→ 27% relative reduction in new vascular events at 12 months (4.0% vs 5.5%; HR 0.73, P=0.02)

→ Higher guideline-adherence scores (91.4% vs 89.7%; P<.001)

→ No significant difference in disability or all-cause mortality

🧠 The takeaway: The next generation of stroke AI won’t just detect — it will orchestrate. Detection is table stakes. The platforms that move outcomes will integrate imaging, classification, and guideline-based recommendations into a single decision-support layer.

The question for every health system: what does your stroke AI stack actually do after it finds the clot?
