🔍 New Study Highlights Why Consistency Matters in AI-Driven Aneurysm Detection

A recent peer-reviewed study published in Nature Scientific Reports (June 6, 2025) reveals a critical challenge in AI-based aneurysm detection: performance instability under varying CT imaging conditions. The research evaluated an FDA-cleared commercial AI and found that its accuracy deteriorated significantly at both low and high radiation doses—particularly when filtered back projection (FBP) was used. While radiologists maintained near-perfect detection across all conditions, the AI missed key aneurysms in 7.1% of scans, with a striking 97.6% miss rate for 2 mm basilar artery aneurysms.
